The Lerit Lab in the Department of Cell Biology at Emory University School of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated and curious Postdoctoral Fellow to join our collaborative and well-funded research team. The selected individual will contribute to ongoing work investigating RNA localization and local translation at centrosomes with the broader goal of understanding how these processes influence development and disease states. The selected candidate will design and conduct experiments, analyze data, and contribute to scholarly publications while developing independent lines of inquiry.
The postdoctoral fellow will receive individualized mentorship and advanced technical training in a supportive, collegial environment. They will receive technical and professional training with tailored career development support, further furnished by Emory’s Office of Postdoctoral Education and the Department of Cell Biology. Responsibilities:
· Drive innovative research aligned with lab goals
· Present and publish rigorous science
· Contribute to a safe, respectful, and collegial work environment
· Contribute to mentorship of junior trainees
· Prepare independent fellowship applications and write original manuscripts with mentorship from Dr. Lerit
Qualifications:
· PhD, MD, or MD/PhD, or equivalent degree in a biology-related discipline
· Proven track record of scholarship, as evidenced through published work
· 0–2 years of postdoctoral experience. Candidates with >2 years of postdoctoral experience are ineligible for this position.
· Strong communication and organizational skills
· Proactive mindset and strong work ethic
· Preferred candidates will have experience in genetic model organisms and/or cell culture, RNA biology, and molecular cloning.
· Experience with microscopy and quantitative image analysis is strongly preferred.
· Prior experience with R, Python, and cloud computing is a plus, but not required.
