Security Officer/Concealed Carry

Position Summary

We are seeking a reliable and professional Armed Security Guard to provide on-site protection and security for commercial office buildings in Vancouver, WA. The successful candidate will hold an active armed security license and concealed carry permit, be registered with the local sheriff’s office, and demonstrate excellent judgment, awareness, and communication skills.

The role combines traditional security functions with concierge-style service and light building management support, requiring professionalism and approachability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patrol & Safety
  • Perform hourly foot patrols of interior and exterior premises to ensure the safety and security of the building, its occupants, and visitors.
  • Respond to incidents, emergencies, and alarms promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain a visible presence to deter unwanted or suspicious activity.
  • Carry a concealed firearm in accordance with state and local regulations.
  • Access Control
  • Greet and verify all visitors, contractors, and vendors upon arrival.
  • Onboard and badge new employees, ensuring ID and credentialing procedures are followed.
  • Monitor and manage access points to the building during and outside of business hours.
  • Surveillance & Reporting
  • Monitor building security systems, alarms, and surveillance cameras.
  • Document and report suspicious activity, safety hazards, or incidents.
  • Maintain daily activity and patrol logs.
  • Vendor & Facility Coordination
  • Assist the building manager with coordination of facility vendors (janitorial, HVAC, maintenance, etc.).
  • Serve as a liaison with vendors for scheduled or emergency services to ensure building cleanliness, functionality, and security compliance.
  • Support basic building operations and help enforce tenant and building policies.

Qualifications

  • Licensing & Certifications:
  • Valid Washington State Armed Security Guard License (issued by WA Dept. of Licensing).
  • Valid Concealed Pistol License (CPL) in Washington.
  • Registered or able to register with Clark County Sheriff's Office as required.
  • Completion of required firearms training and annual requalification.
  • Experience:
  • 2+ years of experience in security, law enforcement, or military service preferred.
  • Experience in commercial, corporate, or property management environments is a plus.
  • Skills:
  • Strong observational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to stay calm and de-escalate tense situations.
  • Basic computer skills (email, logs, camera monitoring software).
  • Ability to walk, stand, and patrol for extended periods.

Schedule & Compensation

• Full-time

• Hourly rate based on experience and licensing status

• Uniform allowance and training reimbursement available

Additional Requirements

• Must pass background check and drug screening

• Must be eligible to work in the U.S.

• Must maintain discretion and professionalism at all times

Salary and Other Compensation :

The starting hourly rate for this position is between $24.00-28.00 per hour. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography, skills, education, experience, certifications, and other qualifications of the candidate.

This position is also eligible for annual incentive pay equal to 5% of annual regular pay, prorated in the first year, in accordance with the terms of the Company’s plan.
