EXB Solutions (a Quest Defense Systems and Solutions company) is growing and looking to add a highly skilled Software Developer with proven expertise in Rust and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in C++, a passion for clean and efficient code, and experience porting legacy C++ codebases to Rust.

Due to the nature of this role- all candidate MUST be a U.S. citizen with an active Secret clearance and work onsite at one of four designated U.S. locations. (El Segundo (CA), Fort Wayne (IN), Raleigh (NC), Cedar Rapids (IA) )

Key Responsibilities:

• Migrate and refactor existing C++ codebases into clean, optimized Rust code
• Develop and maintain unit tests to ensure the reliability and robustness of new and legacy systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure seamless integration with embedded systems and networking components
• Work closely with system architects and technical leads to maintain and improve overall software architecture
• Support the full software development lifecycle including design, development, testing, and deployment in a secure environment

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• U.S. Citizenship with Active Secret Clearance
• 2–3 years of hands-on experience with Rust
• 5+ years of experience with Object-Oriented Programming (preferably in C++)
• Demonstrated experience porting legacy C++ applications to Rust
• Proficiency in writing unit tests and ensuring code reliability
• Willingness to work onsite at one of our four designated U.S. locations - El Segundo (CA), Fort Wayne (IN), Raleigh (NC), Cedar Rapids (IA)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience working on Department of Defense (DoD) projects
• Familiarity with embedded systems development
• Basic knowledge of networking protocols and architecture
• Experience developing or supporting device drivers
• Understanding of hardware interfaces such as UART, SPI, I2C, RTC, CAN
